Liz O’Connell explained that although Jade Mayer from Brooks Resources was originally on the agenda, Jade called on Friday and cancelled his appearance at the meeting because Brooks Resources decided to convene an information meeting about Unicel on Wednesday, September 7. Diane Ross explained Neighborhood Associations and the process to form them to the crowd of 70+ people.
A vote was taken to the question: Do you think a Neighborhood Association would be a good idea? Nearly all voted by a show of hands YES.
Mike Simmons from the Awbrey Village Homeowners Association led the discussion about the Unicel issue.
The Unicel Issue took precedence at the meeting.
Questions asked were:
- Who’s coming to our neighborhood?
- Who are Unicel customers & call center employees
- Is there a safety issue?
· Montessori School
· Playground
· Home yards
· Increased traffic
· Two bus stops where school children get picked up
The introductory statement in the Codes defines what a CC zone is.
· For convenience use of the neighborhood
Why wasn’t a site application filed?
No definite answer. Attorney Foster Glass suggested requesting a hearing and filing injunctive relief.
