Good Samaritan Assistance Program

SEBNA would like to coordinate a Good Samaritan Program in our neighborhood.  If you can volunteer to help, or if you need assistance, please let us know.  We have board positions open and need a volunteer to head up a new committee.   Please click on "SEBNA Officers and Board Members" and contact any of us to let us know, or attend one of the monthly meetings.

  NEIGHBOR HELPING NEIGHBOR

The Good Samaritan Assistance Program has grown immensely and is represented by fellow neighborhood associations and volunteers throughout Bend.   The purpose of this program is to link people in our Neighborhoods who are willing to volunteer to help those in need.  People needing help might be the elderly, single parents, someone with an illness or handicap, an emergency call to 911, or watching out for unusual or suspicious activities around their home while they are out of town.

This program can assist a neighbor in need with any of the following:

Shoveling snow from sidewalks and driveways
Picking up items at the grocery store of pharmacy while running your own errands
Providing a ride to a doctor or other appointment
Raking leaves, trimming a tree or a shrub, mowing a lawn, pulling weeds
Cleaning gutters, exterior cleaning up, maybe even a small paint job
Taking a pet for a walk
Providing a meal
Helping to identify those in your neighborhood requiring assistance (especially in the event of a disaster)
Changing a lightbulb or a smoke detector battery, moving a household item
Any other act of kindness

It doesn't have to be a major commitment.  As little as 15 minutes can go a long way helping your neighbor stay safe. Neighbors living at home with dignity sometimes may need just a little help.
